As part of the Erasmus+ TELL Youth project, K.A.NE. organised the first Local Youth Workshop about the Scientific Preservation of Natural Heritage. Young participants were engaged in selecting 35 plants at the national level, contributing to a total of 100 unique plants across the three participating countries. This collaborative effort between experts and youth aimed to identify plants based on specific criteria: endangered status, cultural and geographical significance, unique traits (such as ecological importance, medicinal properties, or rare features), and prominence in local folklore, myths, or legends.

The workshop not only promoted environmental awareness but also emphasized the cultural value of regional biodiversity. Participants were guided by experts to develop scientific descriptions of each selected plant, combining botanical research with cultural storytelling. This process will deepen their understanding of both natural ecosystems and heritage preservation.
The identified plants will form part of the project’s broader goals, including the creation of a Virtual Herbarium, merging science, culture, and history to highlight the interconnectedness of nature and tradition.
