On 14 May 2025, a diverse group of 41 young people came together in Constanța, Histria, and Corbu to take part in the local youth workshop “Environmental Protection as a Means of Social Inclusion”. The activity offered participants a unique opportunity to explore how environmental sustainability and social inclusion are deeply interconnected, both at community and individual levels.
The day began in Constanța, at the Archaeological Park, where participants met, registered, and took part in interactive get-to-know-each-other activities. These initial moments helped create an open and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging dialogue and collaboration among young people from different backgrounds.
A guided tour of the Archaeological Park followed, providing historical and cultural context and highlighting the importance of protecting heritage sites as part of sustainable development. From there, the group traveled to Histria Fortress, a protected area of national interest. During the visit and working session, participants engaged in discussions and teamwork focused on environmental challenges, conservation, and the role of collective responsibility in preserving natural and cultural landscapes.
After lunch, the workshop continued at Corbu Beach, where participants took part in a hands-on working session in a natural coastal environment. This field activity allowed them to directly observe local environmental issues and reflect on how community involvement, empathy, and civic participation can contribute to both environmental protection and social inclusion.
Throughout the day, young people actively shared ideas, collaborated in teams, and reflected on their role as changemakers within their communities. The workshop successfully demonstrated that environmental action can serve as a powerful tool for social inclusion, fostering cooperation, solidarity, and a sense of belonging.
By the end of the activity, participants returned to Constanța with increased awareness, practical insights, and renewed motivation to engage in initiatives that combine ecological responsibility with social impact, strengthening their capacity to contribute positively to their local communities.
