We hosted Greek and French participants in a transnational partner meeting and a creative writing training that was mostly held in Centrul Multifuncțional Educativ pentru Tineret “Jean Constantin”, combined with outdoor activities to explore Constanta and its surroundings.
Three days of creative writing organized by Centrul Cultural Județean Constanța Teodor T. Burada in collaboration with House of Education and Innovation – HEI and Universitatea Ovidius Constanta in the framework of the Tell Youth project.
Our participants had a brief intro into creative writing, followed by learning by doing activities that can be used in the work with the youth, such as flash fiction and tanka workshops, imagination and improvisation exercises.
Besides the writing activities, the participants got to experience Romanian customs and traditions, as they got to meet the Ansamblul Folcloric Profesionist „Brâulețul”, to see them perform and learn a few dance steps. During the second day of the workshop, the participants went to a local village, called “Pantelimon,” where they visited a traditional house. They have also tried local dishes made by the local community, at the village church. During the last training day, the participants have also visited the Museum of Folk Art, where they could see old Romanian folk clothing, objects, and art.
The participants have discovered as well the local region, first, by doing a “Legend(ary) tour of the old town of Constanta” where they had to find certain places, do various fun tasks, engage with the locals and write stories. Secondly, they went for a guided hike with dr. ing. Memedemin Daniyar (Facultatea de Stiinte ale Naturii si Stiinte Agricole-Agricultura) in the Allah Bair Hill area, where they got to discover local plant species, about which, our youngsters from Romania will collect folk tales and myths as part of the local youth workshop.
