Antirrhinum australe — Snapdragon

Long ago, there was a young knight named Lysander and a beautiful girl, Myrto, who was known for her love of animals. The two were inseparable and spent their days wandering the hills with their faithful dog, Argos. Argos was always by their side, protecting them and watching over them with affection.

One day, Lysander had to leave on a distant mission, and he promised Myrto he would return soon. Weeks passed, but Lysander did not return, and Myrto began to lose hope. Argos, unable to bear her sadness, decided to sit on their favorite hill, where the three used to spend time, waiting there for his master.

Days later, Myrto climbed the hill and found her dog still and unmoving, as if he had become part of the earth. In his place, a small plant had sprouted with flowers resembling a dog’s mouth, as if it were still trying to speak or bark. Myrto realized that Argos had become immortal through this plant, which would forever remain a symbol of faith and love.

This plant, named snapdragon, became a symbol of loyalty and devotion, and people began planting it to honor the strength of bonds that never break, even in death.
